Missions For the Glory of God!

Make Plans to Attend the Faith Promise Missions Revival,
Sunday-Wednesday, September 12-15, 2010

Please begin praying now that God will prepare your heart and the hearts of our people for our annual Faith Promise Missions Revival, Sunday-Wednesday, September 12-15, 2010. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Charles Keen, president of 1st Bible International. Bro. Keen has a passion for missions and will challenge every believer about the cause of missions around the world.

Hear from veteran missionaries giving reports of their work on the mission field, as well as missionaries who are raising funds to go to the mission field. Your heart will be stirred by the presentations of these choice servants of the Lord, and every member will be called to cast their vote for the cause of worldwide missions through your commitment to Faith Promise Missions.

Missionary guest speakers will be in many of our Sunday School classes, missionary presentations will be given in each evening service, Sunday through Wednesday. Dr. Charles Keen will preach on Sunday at 11AM and 6PM, as well as each night at 7PM.

Wednesday, September 15, we will close out the Missions Revival with an International Potluck Dinner at 5:30PM, followed by the service at 7PM, where we will take our Faith Promise Commitments.

"The Faith Promise Missions Revival is the most important business meeting of our church all year." - Pastor Rick Adams

Welcome to GPBC on the Web!

Welcome to GPBCweb.org, the online home of Greater Portland Baptist Church. Located in Southeast Portland, Oregon, GPBC has been preaching the wonderful grace of God's salvation for more than 27 years in the greater Portland area.

If you are visiting Portland, Oregon, please plan to visit GPBC while in our area. We would love to meet you and have you worship with us at any service.

If you live in the Portland area and do not have a church home, or are looking to be a part of a church family that is loving and caring, and where the Word of God is taught and preached without apology, where Christ-honoring music helps prepare hearts for the worship of our Savior, then this may be the place for you!

Please take a few minutes to browse through our site and come back often for update news and information about GPBC!

Are You Plugged In?

There's a Place of Service for You!

So, are you a ministry spectator or a ministry participant? Are you actively involved in serving Christ, or are you on the sidelines wanting other people to serve you? You have probably heard the illustration of a football team, where it is said there are 22 men on the field in desperate need of rest, being watched by 80,000 fans in desperate need of a workout! Which side of that illustration best illustrates your spiritual life?

One preacher said, "The work of God is performed by tired people!" Every one who is involved in the ministry of GPBC is a busy person. It is not a matter of people being bored, and having nothing better to do than volunteer in a ministry function. Rather, it is men and women who desire to be servants of Jesus Christ through the ministry of their local church that makes it possible to accomplish all that we do.

There is a place of service for you! Just look at some of the ministries of our church that right now could use another faithful servant:

Building Maintenance & Janitorial Ministry   Bus Ministry
Choir / Special Music   Deaf Ministry
Greater Portland Christian Academy   Helping Hands
Jail Ministry   Joy Clubs
Juvenile Shelter Ministry   Lawn Care Ministry
Nursery Ministry   Portland Rescue Mission Ministry
Prayer Line Ministry   Security Ministry
Senior Saints Visitation   Sunday School Ministry
Teen Ministry   Ushers Ministry
Video Ministry   Visitor's Welcome Center Ministry

So, how can you help? First, pray that God would give you a willing heart to serve. Second, demonstrate a commitment to faithful participation in the services as a member of GPBC. Third, talk with any of the pastoral staff about the opportunities for service that are available. Fourth, get busy serving the Lord!

"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
2 Timothy 2:2
